The reef is an excellent spot for wavesailing on the sound. Although its not really a reef, its just a sandbar, the reef earned its name through the nice waves it produces if the wind is coming anywhere from the west ( SSW, SW, W, NW, NNW) you need to get to the reef. go from either the North of Avon Kite launch or Kite point/Canadian Hole and just sail offshore it is closer to shore the farther north you go, but it is about 3 miles offshore. A bit of a sail, but totally worth it. Make sure you have a buddy though so if you have a breakdown you wont have to swim all the way back to shore.
