Windsurfing near Stuart Causeway

Stuart Causeway reopened in 2008

STUART CAUSEWAY: - East and West Islands are located under the causeway & provide the most popular windsurfing location in this area, covering all wind directions.

Due to a sea wall and rocks, the West Island is launched from south side only. On a SE wind it is an easy place to sail, since you will be almost entirely in shallow water. Great for learning water starts.

West Island south side launch is best in ENE-SSE winds. East Island can be launched on N and S sides covering WSW to ENE, and E to SW.

Mostly flat shallow water, good for all skill levels.

Grass rigging area with in-ground sprinklers!, grills at both East & West parks. Free parking, Sandy launch, Picnic tables, BBQ grills, & bathroom.

A boat ramp and Bathrooms located on East Island only.

Comments: Southeast winds are good here. It is fun just staying near the beach and blasting in the shallow water. You can head south and brave the channel. If you do, you'll find some amazing flat water in the small, east-west channels near the islands. At low tide, you could stand in the shallows surrounding the channels.
