A great spot for early intermediates and above. Windsurfing only, no kiting.

Relatively flat water for the Bay, only Candlestick is flatter. Launch is inside a nature preserve (free parking), plenty of rigging area. It's a dock launch which is always interesting for the uninitiated, but you can always just throw your rig into the water and jump in after it if you're not comfortable with the jump-off-the-dock-onto-the-board approach.

One big gotcha at this site - you can't sail here within 2 hours of low tide. Watch out for the tide going out while you rip on the outside, if you get caught by this you'll understand why the locals are called "mud dogs". The Bay is extremely shallow and even at half tide you can be a mile off shore and still be able to get off the board and stand up. Good place to learn how to waterstart and get in the footstraps.

Tends to blow a bit stronger up at Coyote Point and 3rd Avenue, but days when it's Southwest or fogged in up there can be great down at Palo Alto.
