Broadalbin Beach on the Great Sacandaga Resevoir is an excellent windsurfing spot on SW through North winds. It is off shore and flukey in any East winds. The beach is reached by taking NY rt 110 North from the town of Broadalbin for 5 miles and on reaching Lakeshore rd and the NY boat launch sign take a left on Lakeshore for .7 mile to the boatlaunch. The beach is a gated drive off the boatlaunch. From mid June to late August a $5 dailey use fee is charged. The rest of the year you can carry in past the barrier and use the beach. The fetch is clear to the West for several miles and the lake puts up some challenging chop in conditions under 6m.A small treed island about a mile offshore makes an interesting destination in NW winds.Members of the Adirondack Board Sailing Club have gate access off season and maintain this site www.abcsail.org.
