This is the main Bodega Bay Spring, Summer and sometimes Fall launch. This site works when there is no fog, and wind is strong from the northwest. On a low tide (~ 1 foot), it is not sailable because most of the sailing area is high and dry. On a typical day, the wind starts around noon or earlier, and builds to the end of the day. Water is pretty flat and sail sizes range from 6.0 to 3.0. A weed fin is recommended, especially in the late spring and summer when sailing without one is impossible. If the tide is between 2 and 5 feet, there is always a place to stand in the water. This water is fed from the ocean so a warm wetsuit is also recommended.
