Barry Lagoon, Kodiak.
Description: This location is fun but the wind can be a little crazy. It's a freshwater lake that really gets warm in the summer. Its totally enclosed so if the wind is off shore you can still kite. A super fun, safe place to kite.
Wind: The wind is often SW so the wind is off shore here. Because its enclosed you dont have to worry about getting swept out to sea. the wind gets funneled into this lagoon, particularly in the middle of the lagoon where it can be blowing 25 knotts while only blowing 10 on the sides.
Directions: Drive toward Pasagshak from Kodiak. Pass Pasagshak River and fossil beach. On the left you will see a gravel road and on the right is a sign that says Narrow Cape. There is also a lodge there. Drive a few miles and on the right and bellow you will see the lagoon. drive to the bottom of the hill and you will see a small drive on the right with an electric cow fence. park there or go through the fence and close it behind you.
Hazards: There are some large chunks of driftwood here and there in the lagoon.
