This is a popular spot for windsurfing. Best directions are south to west (northwest works if you don't mind a schlog out to the windline). You can carry your gear to the end of the point for SW to W or launch directly from the boat launch area for S to SSE. Beware submerged rocks. The locals can tell you where they are. At high tide it is possible to sail directly out into Fisher's Island Sound, otherwise you can carry your kit across Sandy Point (actually an island) to get there. There are bigger swells to be had there.
