1 mile of sandy beach with sandbars approximately 30 metres from shore. No rocks except at extremities of the bay and these are apparent. Best sailed in Northerlies and Southerlies. North Easterly creates great bump and jump conditions. Half mast swells make for good jumping conditions. Southern end of bay has best wave riding conditions due to sand build up. Southern end of bay is ideal for learning to waterstart in southerlies as it is shallow. Not wise to sail in westerlies due to wind shadow. Easterlies can create good wave riding conditions but are very rare. RNLI Station located 1 mile north at Courtown harbour (just in case!!).
