Spring or fall is best but summer stroms can be fun. check the wind speed by :http://www.noaa.inel.gov/WindV/ Drive in to american falls to the road just before the bridge that goes over the dam turn right and head to willow bay marina. On a windy day look for the sail and kites. The preferred wind direction is SW to N. If it's blowing from S to S-SW there is a wind shadow; in which case Mud Lake A.K.A. "Club Mud" is usually better sailing.
