Inspired, Promoted and Sustained by Charles Ivey, Coach of Team USA, junior national windsurfing team, windsurfers take advantage of the West Texas WINDS all year round on Fort Phantom Lake. The Team USA Junior training facility is headquartered at the Abilene Sailing Assn. compound on the northeast side of the lake. Windsurfers from all over the USA come to Abilene to enjoy the wind and refine their skills under the tutelage of Coach Ivey.

It should be noted that the ASA is private property. There is a locked gate. Never trespass. But the members of the ASA are a relaxed bunch who welcome visitors, with proper notice that you're coming.
Sailing to the west of the club gets the best swell when winds are southerly. The launch is good for most wind directions.
